Dr. Bernard was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Minnesota, then lived in Washington State with her husband Chris and their four children. She received her bachelor’s degree and medical degree from the University of Minnesota and did her residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. She then served as a staff anesthesiologist at Madigan Army Medical Center in Washington State with the rank of Army Major and afterward as a civilian. Mary joined CURE in 2011 to serve as the anesthesiologist for CURE Ethiopia. She also served as Medical Director of CURE Ethiopia from 2013-2018. She then served at the Kanad Hospital in the UAE until 2020. She is currently an anesthesiologist practicing in Tacoma, Washington.
